Our initial thoughts began with an interest in sharing the juice from the object, exploring food as a key social activity. But, as the project is primarily about user's interpretations of how unknown objects function (their points of interaction and feedback) we began to focus on sharing the action of juicing.
We created a bizarre object with simple affordances, an orange is first dropped into an orange hole which is orange sized, 2 handles on 2 strings can of course only be pulled, and wheels on the underside suggested that both must be pulled at once or the object would simply roll around. Only when 2 people work together, pulling in opposite directions simultaneously, will the orange be sliced and crushed, and the juice poured into the 2 glasses mounted on the juicer's ends. |
